The difference between website hits and visits
There is a huge difference between website hits and visits. Website publishers often make statements like “My website received 500,000 hits last month,” believing that they are stating the number of visits (visitors) to their site. This confusion often leads to highly inflated numbers when advertisers and publishers are engaging in conversation.
The impact of smoking on your time
There are multitudes of ways that smoking impacts your life. It is amazing how smoking just one pack of cigarettes per day consumes your time. Although you may be doing other things while you are smoking, most smokers allot certain time periods to smoke (cigarette breaks, going outside, etc.).
The time you spend smoking takes a significant chunk out of the available time that we have each day.
Serving others through servant leadership
In organizations it is typical for a hierarchical management structure that resembles a pyramid to be put in place where the top-level management team directs and gives orders to subordinates. Rather than a collaborative effort, this style of management says “I tell you to do something and you do it.”
On the other hand, the structure of servant leadership is similar to an upside-down pyramid that follows the idea “What can I do to help you?” The top-level management team does all in their power to assist and facilitate those under their management.
The financial impact of dry cleaning
Dry cleaning clothes is a conscious financial decision that we make that is designed to make our lives easier. We make the decision to pay for a service that saves us time, hassles and provides a professional look for our attire.
While the cost of dry cleaning varies drastically from city to city and fabric to clothing piece, it is a multi-billion dollar industry that alleviates the headaches and time that we would otherwise have to endure if we cleaned our clothes ourselves.
Parkinson’s Law in Business
It is amazing to see how often Parkinson’s Law appears in our business lives. In simplest form Parkinson’s Law states that “work expands to fill the time available.” If you were told that you had one week to complete a project, then most likely you would have that project finished in one week, even though you could have accomplished the same work in one day.
