How I Know You’re A Twitter Spammer

Although I have a Twitter account, I would not consider myself  a very active or engaged user.  I use TwitterFeed to automatically feed my blog posts to the service, and use it to see what’s going on – my adoption has been cut short a little because it seems like there’s a ton of spam on the service.

If you start following me on Twitter and I see that you have 17,398 followers and you’re following 18,354 – to me you come across as a spammer and you’re not going to get followed unless you have stuff that I care about. It may work for some, but you can recommend the 73 products you’re trying to sell to your other thousands of followers.

Yeah, I probably sound harsh – but  I’m just too busy to listen to sales pitch after sales pitch of people and companies peddling their products.  Maybe this is why I haven’t really adopted Twitter and embraced it as I know I should.
