If you have ever seen blog comments with a little image beside the name of the person that left a comment – you have seen a Gravatar in action. What a Gravatar allows you to do is to easily brand or have people recognize you when you leave a comment on a blog. Owned by Automattic (the company behind WordPress), Gravatars have become increasingly popular over the past several years.
You can see an example of what my Gravatar looks like in the comment section below.
What are Gravatars?
Why should I get one?
There are several reasons why you should get a Gravatar:
- They’re 100% free
- They help you brand yourself or company
- It takes minutes to set up
How do I create a Gravatar?
- Go to Gravatar.com
- Enter your email address
- Upload a picture
- You’re finished!
It only takes a few minutes to set up, and since Gravatars are based on your email address – the next time you leave a comment you will see a cool little picture next to your name!
